BABIRU - FICTION
What happens when humanity is gone, but its machines live on?
In the rusted remains of a fallen megacity, AIs continue to operate on the final programming left behind by their long-dead creators. But when two delivery AIs stumble upon a lost artifact from the past, they trigger a war that could change the future of BABIRU forever.
Directed by Nguyen-Anh Nguyen (Hyperlight, Akira Project) and written by Philip Gelatt (Love, Death + Robots, Secret Level), BABIRU is a groundbreaking proof of concept for a feature film created entirely in Unreal Engine. Funded by an Epic Megagrant, this film redefines the possibilities of animation filmmaking.
Built entirely in Unreal Engine 5 and completed with Blackmagic Design Resolve & Fusion for color, VFX, and finishing, BABIRU demonstrates how cutting-edge tools can revolutionize storytelling. Funded by an Epic Games Megagrant, this project was made possible with the support of an incredible team and key industry partners—including CineGround Media, Mathematic Studio, Beyond Capture Studios, KitBash3D, Perforce Software, and Blackmagic Design—who helped bring this world to life.
